From Anfield to Harvard: Former Liverpool striker Divock Origi retires from football at the age of 31 to pursue a career in fashion Former Belgian Red Devil and Liverpool striker Divock Origi announced his retirement from football this week. Despite being just 31, the forward has decided to pursue a career away from the pitch. As reported by HLN , Origi is swapping the pitch for the catwalk and is reportedly set to study fashion at Harvard. The former Liverpool forward has been throwing himself into the fashion world and is now deeply immersed in the industry. Origi said ‘ I am already completely immersing myself in the history of the trade. I want to study it at the very highest level and hopefully get the chance to learn from the best designers in the world ‘. Origi began his career with Lille in France, making 45 appearances for the first team with seven goals. In 2014 Liverpool signed him before loaning him back to the French side, where he scored a further nine goals in 44 games. Origi then spent a number of seasons with Liverpool, scoring 21 goals in 77 games between 2015 and 2017. In the summer of 2017 he was loaned out to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, scoring seven goals in 36 games. On his return to Liverpool, Origi would play another 98 times, scoring 20 goals. In 2022 he finally left Liverpool and moved to AC Milan on a free transfer. However, his time in Milan was not successful, with just two goals in 36 games. After a loan spell with Nottingham Forest during the 2023/2024 season, Origi returned to Milan but never made another first team appearance for the side. At international level, the former Liverpool striker scored three goals in 32 games for the Red Devils. During the 2014 World Cup Origi scored a late winner against Russia during the group stages.
