Jack Grealish hits back at Man City pre-season tour snub claims

Jack Grealish has directly addressed speculation surrounding his absence from Manchester City’s pre-season tour, insisting that he was not snubbed but is instead continuing his recovery from injury. The 30-year-old, who joined City in a £100 million move from Aston Villa in 2021, has secured three Premier League titles during his time at the club, including being a key part of Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning squad in 2022-23. However, he spent last season on loan at Everton after falling down the pecking order, and his time on Merseyside was cut short in February by a foot injury that required season-ending surgery. His conspicuous absence from the squad travelling for the pre-season tour under new manager Enzo Maresca sparked rumours of him being left out. Grealish, however, quickly dismissed these suggestions. Enzo Maresca has not ruled out including Grealish in his plans for next season (PA) Responding to a now-deleted Instagram post, he wrote: "Just to let you know I’m still recovering from an injury so I’m not training yet. Haven’t been ‘left out’ so stop talking poo poo thanks." With Grealish entering the final season of his contract, his future at the Etihad remains a topic of discussion. Maresca, Guardiola’s former assistant, has not ruled out the England international’s place in his plans. "At the moment, he is here," the former Chelsea boss stated. "He is a Manchester City player. I always said the same. In any club I join, I like to know if there are players that belong to the club. It’s my duty to try to coach them. “Jack is here. I have a good relationship with Jack since I left. Also, we keep in touch, and the reason why is because he has a big heart and he is a very good guy. So this is the reason why and then we see what happens." Grealish is not the only City winger facing an uncertain future. Brazilian star Savinho has also been linked with a move away from the club this summer to seek more playing time, with Tottenham reportedly interested in signing the 22-year-old. City have already bid farewell to a number of senior players this summer, with John Stones, Bernardo Silva and Nathan Ake all leaving the club.
