Arsene Wenger backs ‘attack-minded’ France to win the World Cup Arsène Wenger has backed Didier Deschamps to find balance in France’s attack at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Former Arsenal manager believes Didier Deschamps has the experience needed to manage the wealth of attacking talent now available to the French national team and guide the nation to success in the competition. Speaking to Le Figaro , Wenger praised the depth available to Les Bleus but admitted there is a risk of the side becoming too attack-minded if the balance is not right. “France has so much talent,” said Wenger. “Didier Deschamps has experience. He will find the right balance. ” France continue to produce elite attacking players, with talents such as Kylian Mbappé, Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise all competing for places in the squad. Wenger acknowledged the potential danger of overloading the side with forwards, but argued that modern attacking players are now expected to contribute defensively as well. “We have so many attacking players that the danger is becoming offensively unbalanced a little. But today, the modern player, even attacking players, knows how to do their share of the defensive work.” Wenger backs Les Bleus to win the tournament The former French manager added, “France will win the World Cup.” Les Bleus begin their tournament against Senegal on Tuesday, 16th June.
