Journalist: Liverpool offered €35m for midfielder Curtis Jones to Inter Milan latest as Liverpool hold firm on valuation Inter Milan have revived their efforts to sign Curtis Jones, with Liverpool again facing a familiar question over one of their most valuable homegrown assets. According to James Horncastle for The Athletic , the Serie A champions have returned through intermediaries and indicated a willingness to pay €35m, which is about £30.4m, for the 25-year-old midfielder. That figure moves the conversation on from Inter’s earlier approaches, but it still does not meet Liverpool’s valuation. The Merseyside club are understood to want closer to €40m, around £34.7m, and there has been little sign of that stance softening despite repeated contact from Italy. This has been a running theme for months. Inter first made a serious move in January with a loan and option structure, then followed up in the summer with bids of £17.3m and £21.7m, both of which were rejected. The latest indication is stronger, though the gap remains meaningful and Liverpool are under no obvious pressure to compromise. That description still feels accurate. Liverpool’s view appears to be shaped by more than Jones’ contract situation, which now runs to 2027. There are currently no active talks over a new contract, which naturally sharpens attention on the situation. Even so, Liverpool are believed to be open to exploring an extension if expectations can be aligned. For now, that has not happened. Liverpool’s reluctance to accept a reduced fee reflects that wider picture, and there is a growing sense they would rather hold their ground than sell below what they believe is a fair market price. Our View From an unsure Liverpool supporter perspective, this feels like one of those situations where every outcome carries some risk. Jones is clearly a talented player, and having a Scouser in the squad always matters. He understands the club, he understands the pressure, and he can offer quality in several midfield roles. That has value beyond transfer spreadsheets. At the same time, if there are no active contract talks and Inter keep pushing, it is fair to wonder whether this could become more complicated later in the window or even next year. Liverpool do not want to be seen as a club that can be worn down on price, especially for homegrown players, but supporters will also be nervous about letting a valuable asset drift towards the final stretch of his deal. The manager’s comments were encouraging and they suggest Jones remains part of the plan. That probably gives fans some reassurance. Even so, uncertainty lingers because squad building under a new head coach is rarely straightforward. If Liverpool truly value him above Inter’s offer, then keeping him makes sense. If there is any doubt over his long-term place, then the club may eventually have to make a hard decision. Right now, standing firm feels correct, but it is a situation worth watching closely.
