It could happen! Liverpool line-up move for Man City super talent
It could happen! Liverpool line-up move for Man City super talent Liverpool could sign a Man City super talent this summer. Signing a player from Manchester City is never straightforward, but Liverpool could be on the verge of doing exactly that. In recent years, there’s actually been a surprising amount of movement between the two clubs at academy level. Despite the rivalry, there’s a steady flow of young players switching sides, and Liverpool in particular have benefited from that trend. Over the past year or so, several players have made the move from City’s academy to Liverpool. Earlier this season, Lucas Alford and Alfied Dooley both joined to link up with the U15s, while last year Lucas Clarke was also picked up from City’s system and is now featuring for the U18s. It’s a clear pattern rather than a one-off. What this suggests is that some young players are starting to see Liverpool as a clearer pathway to senior football. At Anfield, there’s a growing belief that opportunities arrive sooner for talented academy prospects, especially when compared to the intense competition at City. Manchester City’s setup, for all its success, is stacked with elite talent and constant high-profile signings. That makes it extremely difficult for young players to see a realistic route into the first team, no matter how good they are. Liverpool, on the other hand, have built a reputation for integrating youth more naturally when the opportunity is there. That difference is starting to matter, and it could open the door for even more movement between the two academies. Now, there is even talk of one of City's best young talents coming to Anfield. If that happens, it would underline a growing trend: the pathway at Liverpool is becoming a genuine pull factor, even strong enough to tempt players away from one of the most dominant academies in world football. Especially when you factor in the presence of Andoni Iraola, who loves to work with younger players, and add in the recent examples of players making that pathway. Rio Ngumoha's journey to even making his England debut is something that is going to be appealing for young players and they will see that as an example of the club's commitment to bringing through youth. Ngumoha isn't alone of course. There are many examples of Liverpool bedding in talent from the academy, Jarell Quansah and Curtis Jones among them. Conor Bradley, Caoimhin Kelleher and more recently Trey Nyoni has also became a key player for the Reds. It's for these factors that Xavier Parker will be enticed by Liverpool's interest. According to Lewis Bower, the Man City super talent is on the radar of the Reds and a move could happen this summer. Now this would be an incredible move because it would mean Liverpool taking away one of Man City's biggest prospects. Parker is a regular U16 England international, he recently even captained the young Three Lions and he's also been playing an age-group up for City becoming a regular for their U18s. Last season he played a role in helping Man City lift the FA Youth Cup title and averaged an incredible goal or assist every 76.5 minutes he spent on the pitch. On top of that at just 15-years-old, he became the second youngest player to represent City in the UEFA Youth Cup in the club's history. A midfielder who can play in a number of different roles, Parker is a massive talent, and the Ngumoha pathway will be massively appealing for him.
