WSL: Chelsea sign Italy international Giulia Dragoni from Barcelona Italy international Giulia Dragoni is the latest summer signing for Chelsea, penning a four-year contract with the Blues. The 19-year-old arrives as one of the most highly rated young midfielders in world football. Giulia Dragoni’s path to Chelsea Dragoni started in Pro Sesto’s academy before joining Inter Milan in 2020, making her senior debut shortly after her 16th birthday. Her performances caught Barcelona’s attention, and she signed for the Spanish giants in January 2023. Later that year, Dragoni made her senior Italy debut. She has since earned 25 caps for her country. Dragoni broke into Barcelona’s first-team squad during the 2023/24 campaign and was part of the Spanish side that won the quadruple. At just 17, she also received the inaugural Best Italian Golden Girl award. She subsequently spent two seasons on loan at Roma. After a productive first campaign in the Italian capital, Dragoni returned for 2025/26 and helped Roma win Serie A and the Coppa Italia. She scored seven goals and provided four assists in 22 league appearances, earning the Serie A Women Midfielder of the Year award. (Photo by Chelsea FC) What Dragoni said about joining Chelsea Speaking about her move to Chelsea, Dragoni said: “I still can’t believe I have signed for Chelsea! “When I was a child, not even in my biggest dreams did I think I would sign for Chelsea. It’s unbelievable. I’m really excited. “I spoke with Sonia, and she introduced me to the project here and showed me the possibilities. We all know Chelsea is one of the best clubs in the world, so it wasn’t hard to convince me to come here.” Chelsea will hope that Dragoni’s technical excellence and intelligent positional play will help them get back to winning ways next season. The Blues’ 2026/27 WSL campaign gets underway on Saturday 5 September.
