Official | Brentford sign Mamadou Sangaré from Lens in club-record €48m deal Brentford FC have signed Lens defensive midfielder Mamadou Sangaré (24) , both clubs have announced . The Malian international’s €48m transfer represents a club-record deal for both Lens and Brentford. Sangaré has signed a five-year contract with Keith Andrews’s Bees, who were in the market for a midfielder after parting ways with Chelsea-bound England international Jordan Henderson. Signed last summer in a €8m deal from Rapid Vienna, Sangaré impressed for Pierre Sage’s Lens, with his all-energy displays earning rave reviews. Sangaré was a mainstay for  Les Sang in Or  in their push towards UEFA Champions League football and their maiden Coupe de France titre. The Malian won the 2026 Marc-Vivien Foé Award, which is presented annually to the best African player in Ligue 1, and was deservedly billed as GFFN’s Signing of the Season. GFFN | Bastien Cheval
