Millwall sign experienced defender Batth

Danny Batth played 10 Championship games for Derby last season [Getty Images] Experienced defender Danny Batth has signed a one-year deal with Millwall after leaving Derby County at the end of last season. Batth, who turns 36 next month, previously played under Lions boss Alex Neil at Sunderland when he helped the Black Cats win promotion from League One in 2022. He spent a decade with boyhood club Wolves, featuring in two promotions before moving on to play Championship football with five other clubs – most recently last season for the Rams. "He's a hugely experienced centre-back who's earned respect throughout the game over a long career, and that experience is exactly what we're looking to add to this group," Millwall's director of football Steve Gallen said. "Danny's leadership and attitude will count for a lot, both on the pitch and in the dressing room. He adds strong competition in that area of the pitch." Batth becomes the seventh signing of the summer for the Lions, who launch their campaign with an EFL Cup first-round visit to QPR next weekend.
