Kamwa to leave Newport after failing to agree deal
Forward Bobby Kamwa scored late winners in Newport's final two games of the 2025-26 season [Huw Evans Picture Agency] Newport County have announced that Bobby Kamwa will depart this summer having failed to agree a new deal with the League Two club. The 26-year-old forward was one of the heroes of Newport's successful fight to avoid relegation to the National League, as he scored three goals in the final two games of last season. But the Exiles say Kamwa, whose Rodney Parade deal expires this month, has decided to leave to pursue opportunities elsewhere "after turning down an improved contract offer". "The forward's contributions included a number of decisive performances, with his goals providing real impact at important times in the season," Newport added in a statement on their website. "Newport County now continues planning for the upcoming campaign as recruitment work progresses ahead of the new season." In all, former Leeds United youngster Kamwa scored 14 goals in 95 appearances having joined Newport in 2024 after being released by Burton Albion. The Welsh club announced last month that they were in contract discussions with a number of players whose current deals expire this summer.
