Bell predicts big season for returning Tabiner

The 22-year-old missed all of last term for the League Two side after suffering knee ligament damage in a pre-season friendly in July 2025. However, fit-again Tabiner featured prominently in Crewe's final pre-season game, a 0-0 draw with Cheshire neighbours Chester City on Saturday. "The boy oozes quality, it's so good to see him back," Bell told BBC Radio Stoke. "Being out injured has meant he's been able to perform and outrun everybody. I'm delighted for him, he's going to be a big player for us." Tabiner made his debut as a 17-year-old in 2021 but his versatility has allowed him to rack up 94 league appearances and five goals despite his 16-month absence from first-team football. "He's played in multiple positions which a lot of the players are going to have to do," Bell added. "He can play 10, he can play six, he can play off the sides. "It's really pleasing to have him back, he's a top young man." Crewe, who finished 11th last season, begin their new campaign on Saturday in the Carabao Cup with a first-round tie at home to Accrington Stanley (BST 15:00).
