Belgian Pro League 2026/2027 Preview: Charleroi Charleroi had a poor end to the 2025/2026 season after a fantastic campaign the year before. They had qualified for European football but fell during the play-offs, before losing key players and eventually Rik De Mil to Gent. Mario Kohnen stepped in late last season and has now been given the task of getting the Zebras back into the reckoning for European football. Charleroi have seen a number of players leave this summer, with a few coming the other way. Some key players are still on the books but will certainly be attracting interest from across Belgium and other leagues. Transfers in: Boubakar Dembaga (Monaco), Adama Bojang (Reims, loan), Arthur Cremer (Virton), Severin Nioule (Hacken), Noah Solheid (RFC Seraing) Transfers out: Anthony Descotte (Fortuna Sittard, loan), Raymond Asante (Francs Borains, loan), Isaac Mbenza (Al-Yarmouk), Quentin Benaets (RAAL La Louviere), Zan Rogelj (Wisla Plock), Mehdi Boukamir (RAAL La Louviere, loan), Etienne Camara (Panathinaikos), Robin Denuit (Lokeren), Jules Gaudin (Laval), Noam Mayoka-Tika (Lierse) Key player : Aurelien Scheidler Scheidler had a decent, if not remarkable, first season with Charleroi after joining from Dender last summer. The striker scored 10 goals in 41 games, with four assists. They will need him to hit double figures again if they hope to do anything of note this season, as the side really does lack goals outside of the French forward. This will certainly be the case if they lose Parfait Guiagon. Young player to watch : Severin Nioule Charleroi have usually had decent wingers, and during their best years, it has been the wide men who have always played a crucial role. Could Nioule be the next one? The 21-year-old Ivorian can play on either flank and joins from Swedish football for a reasonably small fee. He played for Hacken in 2024 and 2025, with over 40 games played, six goals scored and one assist provided. This year he has been playing for Varberg BoIS in the second tier, so it is interesting that he has made the move from there to Belgium.
