Watford sign midfielder Clancy Watford have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland international midfielder Aoibheann Clancy on a permanent deal. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Golden Girls this afternoon. The 22-year-old midfielder joins Watford from SSE Airtricity League Women’s Premier Division club Shelbourne. It has been reported that Watford have paid an undisclosed fee to The Shels to secure the player’s services. Clancy started her senior career with Wexford Youths where she made well over 100 competitive appearances. She then joined latest club Shelbourne in 2025 where she has impressed. The player has previously won the FAI Women’s Cup while she is a former SSE Airtricity League Women’s Premier Division Player of the Year. She recently also added an All-Island Cup win to her personal trophy tally. On the international stage, Clancy has been capped by the Republic of Ireland on one occasion at senior level. That appearance came back in 2022. Clancy is Watford’s tenth signing of the summer transfer window. The Golden Girls have invested heavily in their squad this summer in a bid to enjoy a successful season back in Barclays WSL2. The club were promoted back to the second tier at the end of last season.
