Fulham complete joint-record signing of ‘talented’ Gonzalo García from Real Madrid

Fulham complete joint-record signing of ‘talented’ Gonzalo García from Real Madrid Fulham have announced the signing of Spanish striker Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid. Garcia joins the Cottagers in a deal worth up to €42 million (£36m). Madrid have also inserted a 30 percent sell-on clause and a right of first refusal into the deal. He becomes Fulham’s joint-most expensive signing, alongside Kevin , who arrived last summer. He has signed a five-year deal, with the club having the option to extend it further by a year. Fulham’s director of Football Operations, Tony Khan, is confident that Garcia will be a successful signing for the west London side. “I’m thrilled to welcome Gonzalo García to Fulham! Gonzalo is a very talented young striker, and he is excited to come to Fulham and play in the Premier League. “We all believe that Gonzalo will be a tremendous addition to the squad and will prove to be an excellent player for the Club under Álvaro’s leadership! Come on Fulham The Spain youth international came through the youth ranks at Madrid, where he worked with Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa. Garcia flourished under Arbeloa, scoring 60 goals in two seasons for Castilla. The young forward made his breakthrough with Madrid at last summer’s FIFA Club World Cup, where he won the top scorer’s award. However, he was unable to build on the momentum, playing as Kylian Mbappe’s understudy throughout last term. Head coach Jose Mourinho reportedly wanted to give the 22-year-old the chance to impress in pre-season before Madrid decided to sell him. Garcia will now be hoping to realise his potential at Fulham, where he is expected to compete with Rodrigo Muniz for a starting berth.
