Crues have to learn from last season - Caddell

Crusaders manager Declan Caddell said it is up to him to find the 'right solution' to ensure there is no repeat of last season's struggles at Seaview. The north Belfast outfit only secured their spot in the Irish Premiership for this season after beating Championship runners-up Annagh United on penalties in the promotion/ relegation play-off. It has been another challenging summer for the Crues with star striker Fraser Bryden making the move to Chesterfield and goalkeeper Musa Dibaga joining Dunfermline Athletic. "I wish I could sign three or four more but with the finance it is difficult to get experienced players," Caddell said. "That is the player's choice, they have families, it is their career and with the finances floating about it is always difficult not only with the top four but there are another four part-time teams who are way ahead of where we are. "The market is super inflated, and we can only do what we can do, and I would not change that, but it is up to me to find the right solution and fit those pieces of the puzzle together to make sure last season does not happen again." Last campaign was one to forget for the Crues, but a late push meant the side avoided relegation to the Championship the first time since 2005. The 38-year-old added that his young side, whose average age was 22.8 last season, will now be "another year older and wiser". "They have to learn their lessons and have to improve and need to learn from that and, if they don't, they never will," he continued. "Playing under the pressure they were last year I doubt will be replicated this year, having to win every single week. They talk about the pressure of winning leagues and trophies, that was the exact same pressure at the bottom end of the table. "It is a situation I don't want to be in, and the players don't want to be in again, so you have to learn from it, develop and move on to make sure it does not happen."
