Como respond to ‘misunderstanding’ over controversial new season ticket rules Como President Mirwan Suwarso has released a statement explaining the proposed new season ticket rules, which would kick fans off if they missed three matches. The decision had caused controversy that spread even beyond Italian shores, threatening to set a new precedent for how fans can buy and keep season tickets for their teams. Now that Como are in the Champions League, and with a very small stadium , the rush for season tickets is going to be even more extreme. The rule introduced was that if fans miss more than three home games without first warning the club, they risk losing their season ticket status. (Photo by Alessandro Sabattini/Getty Images) President Suwarso therefore sent a message on his Instagram Stories to respond to the controversy. “Dear supporters, I have read the many misunderstandings surrounding our proposed season ticket rules, and I would like to clarify a few points. “First and foremost, failing to attend the minimum number of matches does not mean your season ticket will be taken away during the season. It simply means that you will lose the right to renew your season ticket for the following season. “The same principle applies to the other rules. If we find that your assigned seat is regularly being used by non Como supporters, you will lose the right to renew your season ticket for the following season. “As for our request not to wear the colours of the opposing team, this rule applies to season ticket holders. Season tickets are intended for Como supporters. “Why would you become a Como season ticket holder only to give your seat to a supporter of the opposing team, when there are so many Como fans who would love to be at the stadium but are unable to get tickets because matches are often sold out? “Of course, this does not apply to children. We have no interest in taking away a child’s opportunity to support their heroes, regardless of which team they play for. “Over the coming days we will continue to clarify these rules and answer the most common questions. Our goal is to reduce any remaining misunderstandings and ensure everyone understands the spirit behind these measures: to make sure that season tickets and seats at the Sinigaglia are reserved for those who genuinely love Como and want to support the club.”
