Rico Lewis' sister Sacha turns pro with Man City
Sacha Lewis, sister of England international Rico, has signed her first professional contract with Women's Super League side Manchester City. The 18-year-old defender follows in the footsteps of her older brother, who also graduated from City's academy, and became a key figure in the men's team under former manager Pep Guardiola. She joined City at under-14 level and progressed through the ranks, becoming a part of their matchday squads twice last season as the club won their first WSL title in a decade. The England Under-19 international was also named in the squad that faced Chelsea in the Women's League Cup semi-final, but she is still yet to make her senior debut for City. "It's amazing," Lewis said after signing the contract. "A lot of hard work was put in and it's such a great achievement. I'm proud. "It means so much, it means even more because I support City. Being here in the academy, not many people get this opportunity so I'm very grateful." City's director of football Therese Sjogran described Lewis as "a shining example to her team-mates despite still being just 18". Rico, three years older than Sacha, made his senior debut for City in 2022 and made 11 appearances in the Premier League last season. The right-back has also represented England on five occasions, with his most recent outing coming in 2024. Andree Jeglertz's City will begin their WSL title defence at home against newly promoted Birmingham City on 6 September.
