Newcastle United full-back Stokes signs new deal Newcastle United full-back Demi Stokes has signed a new contract with the club. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Magpies earlier today. Stokes joined Newcastle United in summer 2024 following their promotion to Barclays WSL2. She has gone on to make 49 appearances for the club in all competitions. The defender captained the side last season. The player has won domestic and international honours over the course of her career. Her experience and know-how will be vital as Newcastle United look to finally gain promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League in 2025/2026. The Magpies have steadily cemented their place in Barclays WSL2 in the last two years but the club’s long-term aim is to be an established side operating in the top tier of English football. After signing on again with the Tynesiders, Stokes said “I’m very happy. I always say that you don’t take these moments for granted especially as I’m not getting any younger. “I’m very proud of my career, but I think to help Newcastle get promoted would just top it off, it’s something I always said I wanted to achieve with the club.” Further Newcastle United squad news will be announced by the club in due course.
