Chelsea Have Reached An Agreement For This La Liga Full-Back: What Will He Bring To Stamford Bridge? In a recent report , journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Chelsea have reached an agreement with Rayo Vallecano for Pep Chavarria this summer. It has been mentioned that the Blues have agreed on a deal worth around €25m for the Spanish defender, who is set to travel to London for his medical soon. Chavarria’s Solid Campaign In La Liga Chavarria enjoyed a decent season at the Spanish club recently as he managed to put in a handful of impressive displays for them in La Liga. The 28-year-old registered one goal and three assists in 44 matches for Rayo Vallecano last season in all competitions. The Spanish talent is currently among the most experienced full-backs in La Liga. Hence, it is no surprise that Chelsea have decided to move in for him this summer. His current contract at the Spanish club will expire in the summer of 2030. Thus, the Blues would do well to snap him up on a cut-price fee this off-season. Chavarria is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a decent crosser as well from the left flank. The Spaniard can chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team. Chavarria has proven himself to be a reliable performer in La Liga. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the physical demands and high intensity of the Premier League . We can expect Chavarria to bring more quality and depth to Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso’s backline. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team place at Stamford Bridge in the coming years. At 28, Chavarria is playing in his prime at the moment, which makes him a good choice for the Blues to pursue this off-season. He will also serve as an ideal replacement for Marc Cucurella at the West London club. All in all, Chavarria would be a great addition to Chelsea’s squad in the short term.
