It is also expected that Jose Mourinho will request a number of improvements in defence, but there are several players with uncertain futures already in the squad. Yet off the bench, Garcia struggled to make the required impact. In total, he managed eight goals and three assists in 39 appearances. Just 13 of those appearances were starts though, and overall, he averaged a goal contribution every 134 minutes, a reasonable average. The fact he was included in the Spain support squad by Luis de la Fuente is a sign that he has not gone unnoticed.
