Rumours circulating in the English press today are claiming that Chelsea defender Malo Gusto is in PSG’s sights. Luis Enrique has reportedly given the green light for a push to sign the France international right back, who was a regular at the World Cup. PSG already own the world’s best right back in the form of Achraf Hakimi. It’s sensible for them to want a good backup for him. Chelsea’s Gusto price tag means move almost impossible Warren Zaire-Emery was Hakimi’s primary backup last season, and signing Gusto would allow him to be a permanent central midfield option long term. But Chelsea’s reported price tag of more than €75m makes a deal seem very unlikely. Manchester City have also been linked with Gusto this summer, but baulked at that asking price. PSG will surely do the same, given the former Lyon man wouldn’t even be a first team starter for them. However, with Reece James and Marco Palestra as a very strong pair of options in Gusto’s position at Stamford Bridge, perhaps they can be persuaded to accept a more reasonable offer later in the summer. In other news… PSG have been speaking to Parma about bringing in goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. But an even stranger suggestion has been made in parallel. There are now direct talks between PSG and Bayer Leverkusen over the potential move of a youngster to the Bundesliga.
