Flick has spoken directly to Real Madrid target to explain Barcelona project – report Real Madrid seemingly had the signing of Rodri completed and in their bag, but matters have taken an unexpected turn in recent hours. Just when it seemed like the player was set to be a new Galactico, Barcelona seem to have made a surge of progress in his pursuit. Stepping on the gas, the club have reportedly overtaken Real Madrid with the player seriously considering a move to Catalonia now. Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s progress with Rodri has seemingly stalled, and everything now remains in the player’s hands. With both clubs pushing, he will have the pick and both clubs are working to convince him of their projects. A personal intervention As reported by  SPORT  in a breaking update now, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has called and spoken to Rodri personally to help the player understand the opportunity he will have at Barcelona. Rodri, after all, will take Barcelona’s midfield to the next level. One factor that has undoubtedly played a big part in Barcelona pushing for the Spaniard is Frenkie de Jong’s injury. The Dutchman’s long-term ailment leaves the team relatively shallow in the pivot position, and there will not be a great chance of him earning his spot back if Barcelona manage to land Rodri. A convincing option From the player’s point of view, joining Barcelona is indeed a very compelling path to go down, simply given his profile, the atmosphere and the culture the club represents.
