No bids yet for Exeter City striker Wareham

The 23-year-old scored 22 goals in 53 appearances last season and has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move away from St James Park. But despite some phone calls Taylor says no club has yet made a formal bid for the highly-rated forward. "I can't put a handle on why that is. He had fantastic season last season, we've seen players with similar numbers from a goal return go for substantial amounts of money to a certain level in the game," Taylor told BBC Radio Devon. "It might still happen, it might still come, but it's not happened as yet. "Jayden will be the first to know when it does happen and the club will respond accordingly if and when it does. "In the meantime we've got a very good centre-forward who is chomping at the bit and ready for the next game." Taylor feels that with Exeter's delicate financial position, selling Wareham could have a big effect on the club's forthcoming League Two campaign. "If the right fee comes in for Jayden Wareham it means the club can survive for the next couple of seasons if not a little bit longer, so there is a bigger picture that we have to look at, but from a manager's point of view you want your best players. "To lose Jayden at any stage would be a massive blow, he's irreplaceable, but we might be able to use a little bit of finance to bring in a few more players and strengthen the squad as a whole." No initial fee for Yfeko Johnly Yfeko's time at Exeter City was hit by injuries [Shutterstock] Meanwhile Taylor has confirmed that the club has not received a fee for central defender Johnly Yfeko after his move to Kilmarnock. The 22-year-old agreed to join the Scottish Premiership side last week after two years at St James Park. The former Rangers defender spent a season on loan at Exeter before agreeing a permanent deal last summer. But Yfeko played just 31 times in all competitions as he struggled with a number of injuries. "There was nothing up front in relation to the financial aspect. There could be further down the line, that's dependent on what's to come," Taylor told BBC Radio Devon. "It just frees up a little bit of wages which we hope to put to one or possibly two players "Johnly goes with our best wishes, he's gone back to be closer to his family. "Anyone who's seen him play knows he's a good player, we've just not had him on the pitch long enough in an Exeter City shirt.
