Norwich confirm ACL injury for Ahmed

The 25-year-old landed awkwardly during the second half of Norwich's 2-1 pre-season defeat by Osasuna at Carrow Road last Saturday and needed medical staff to help him off the field of play. After head coach Philippe Clement said the injury "did not look good" following full-time, the Canaries have now confirmed that Ahmed will undergo surgery this month. The injury is likely to rule Ahmed out for the majority, if not all, of the season. In the same statement, Norwich confirmed that Ahmed's team-mate, Mo Toure, has had a request to switch his squad number to Ahmed's number for the 2026-27 season approved. "Since we both arrived at the club in January, we've become really close friends," Toure told Norwich's website. "It's unfortunate that he can't be with us on the pitch, but in switching to his number for the season ahead, I want him to know that he has all of our full support and love."
