Leicester sign winger Burns from Ipswich

Wes Burns helped Ipswich reach the Premier League [Getty Images] Leicester City have signed winger Wes Burns from Premier League side Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal. Wales international Burns, 31, moved to Ipswich in the summer of 2021 and was an important part of the squad which won promotion to the Championship in his second season at the club, making 50 appearances in all competitions. The following season, Burns played 35 times in the league and scored six goals as Town sealed a historic second consecutive promotion to the Premier League. Burns went on to make 18 appearances in the top flight but suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury against Liverpool in January 2025. He came back following 11 months out with injury to score in an important 2-0 win at Coventry in December on the club's route to sealing a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. He is Leicester's sixth signing of the summer transfer window and joins Sunderland loanee Tommy Watson and Wales team-mate Liam Cullen at the King Power Stadium under the stewardship of new manager Russell Martin. "Having spoken to the manager and various people I know here, there's a massive ambition to get the club back to where it once was, so I'm excited about the project," Burns told Leicester's website.
