Julian Alvarez plans to speak with Atletico Madrid manager to push for Barcelona transfer

Julian Alvarez plans to speak with Atletico Madrid manager to push for Barcelona transfer As we near the start of the new season, the Julian Alvarez saga is getting more and more intense, with the player slated to report to camp on August 10. Alvarez, having already decided to leave the club, naturally wants to seal a move to Barcelona before that deadline. With time running out, both Barcelona and Alvarez have taken a more aggressive approach in recent days. Alvarez set to meet Diego Simeone According to Eldesmarque , Alvarez is set to meet Diego Simeone next week to talk about his potential exit from Atletico Madrid. Alvarez’s wait continues. There will be no act of rebellion, but he plans to sit down face-to-face with Simeone after returning from Atletico’s tour of Korea. In that conversation, Alvarez intends to make his position clear, explaining that he wants to leave and that his desire is to join Barcelona. The hope from the player’s side is that Simeone will understand his situation, help facilitate a move, and encourage Atletico to negotiate rather than keep a disgruntled forward for the entire season. Barcelona ready to improve their offer The report suggests the club would be prepared to sweeten their proposal should that meeting go as planned. Meeting with Simeone could be crucial. (Photo by Fran Santiago/Getty Images) Ibanez claims Barcelona could raise their offer slightly in order to get the deal done, a sign of just how determined the Catalans are to land Flick’s number one target. This all comes after Deco met with Alvarez’s representatives earlier in the week, with both parties having outlined a joint strategy to try and force through the transfer. The obstacle, as ever, is Atletico’s hierarchy, and CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin in particular. Gil Marin remains inflexible in his stance, insisting Alvarez will not be sold and will instead be made to honour his contract unless a club triggers the staggering €490 million release clause. Alvarez is doing everything in his power to force a move, and Barcelona are ready to push a little harder, but until Atletico soften their position, a breakthrough remains frustratingly out of reach. Alvarez’s meeting with Simeone, then, could prove pivotal.
