Official | Borussia Dortmund loan Yan Couto to Como Borussia Dortmund have officially confirmed Yan Couto’s season-long loan move to Champions League participants Como. The Brazilian right-back will spend the entire 2026/27 campaign with the Serie A club. Dortmund and Como did not disclose the financial details, but multiple reports indicate that the Italians will pay a €2m loan fee and possess a purchase option worth approximately €20m. Couto remains under contract with BVB through 2030. The two clubs had already reached an agreement earlier this week . Couto subsequently missed Dortmund training on Wednesday and travelled to Italy to complete the transfer. The move concludes a process that began approximately two months ago. Como’s initial interest temporarily failed to produce an agreement, but the Champions League participants ultimately returned and secured the 24-year-old. Couto struggled to establish himself at Dortmund Couto initially joined Dortmund on loan from Manchester City in the summer of 2024. A purchase mechanism was triggered shortly afterwards, converting the move into a permanent transfer. The four-time Brazil international proceeded to make 62 competitive appearances for Dortmund but never fully established himself as an undisputed starter. Julian Ryerson remained ahead of Couto on the right side, while the Brazilian’s defensive weaknesses complicated his attempts to secure a lasting role. Couto’s attacking instincts, technical quality and acceleration frequently proved valuable, but Dortmund could not consistently accommodate him in their tactical structure. His opportunities diminished considerably during the latter stages of last season. Couto made only four brief substitute appearances after March, accumulating just 48 minutes of playing time. Head coach Niko Kovač also experimented with Maximilian Beier as an alternative wing-back during preseason , further reducing the Brazilian’s prospects of regular football.
