Manchester City Are Facing Stiff Competition For This Chelsea Full-Back: Is He Worth The Fight? In a recent report , The Sun claimed that Manchester City are facing stiff competition for Chelsea full-back Malo Gusto this summer. It has been mentioned that the Mancunian club would have to rival Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign the French talent in this transfer period. Gusto’s Impressive Form In English Football Gusto enjoyed a good run of form at the West London club in the previous campaign as he managed to put in a series of impressive performances on the right side of their backline. The French defender made 34 appearances in the league for the Blues last season, scoring twice and earning three assists in the process. The 23-year-old is currently among the most talented full-backs in the Premier League. Hence, it is no surprise that Man City are in the running to acquire his services this off-season. His current contract at Stamford Bridge will expire in the summer of 2030, so the Mancunian outfit would have to make a big offer if they want to recruit Gusto in this transfer period. Gusto loves a tackle and can scan the danger well to earn possession back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a good crosser as well from the flanks. The French sensation can make some strong runs with the ball and has a knack for chipping in with a few goals and assists from the full-back positions. Gusto is primarily a right-back but can also serve as a left-back or play as a right-sided wide player if required. He has already proven himself in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Man City. We can expect Gusto to inject more quality and depth into Enzo Maresca’s backline. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting role at the Mancunian club in the coming seasons. At 23, Gusto has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for Man City to consider in this transfer window. He would be well worth the fight, so Maresca should focus on stepping up his pursuit of him this summer.
