Manchester United continue squad overhaul by offloading goalkeeper

Manchester United have agreed to loan goalkeeper Altay Bayindir to Celta Vigo for the season. The Spanish club have an option to buy the Turkey international, reportedly for a fee of £3.5m, which would give United a high sell-on clause on top of that. They will also pay all of his wages during his loan spell, with performance bonuses giving United the potential to make more money. Bayindir, who joined United for £4.3m from Fenerbahce in 2023, started last season in the first team but made a series of mistakes before losing his place to the summer signing Senne Lammens, who remains first-choice keeper. 28-year-old Bayindir has made 17 appearances in his three seasons at Old Trafford. The move continues an overhaul of United’s ranks, particularly of their goalkeepers, under Michael Carrick. United have signed Karl Darlow from Leeds to act as Lammens’ deputy and have also loaned out Andre Onana , who rejoined Trabzonspor. They are set to sell a third goalkeeper, Radek Vitek, to Middlesbrough, in a deal potentially worth up to £14 million. The 22-year-old Czech impressed in a loan spell at Bristol City last term. United have also signed multiple outfield players as they prepare for a return to the Champions League after finishing third in the Premier League last term. Andrey Santos has arrived from Chelsea, while fellow midfielder Youri Tielemans has moved to Old Trafford after United triggered his Aston Villa release clause. Additional reporting by PA
