VfB Stuttgart keeper Fabian Bredlow enjoys strong backing in planned No. 1 Dennis Seimen’s absence VfB Stuttgart increasingly appear prepared to trust Fabian Bredlow as their temporary No. 1 while Dennis Seimen recovers from a serious thigh injury. Stuttgart had entered preseason planning to place their “full trust” in Seimen following his successful loan spell with Paderborn. The highly-rated 20-year-old was expected to succeed Alexander Nübel and make his Bundesliga debut as Stuttgart’s first-choice goalkeeper. Those plans were abruptly disrupted when Seimen suffered an injury expected to keep him sidelined until at least the end of September . Stuttgart have considered entering the transfer market , but Bredlow has performed well enough during preseason to strengthen the argument for an internal solution. Deniz Undav backs Fabian Bredlow “I’m a huge fan,” Undav recently told a group of assembled reporters at Stuttgart’s training camp. “For years I’ve been telling him that we feel like we have the best second-choice goalkeeper. Now he can prove himself and show that we don’t need a new goalkeeper.” Undav contacted Bredlow immediately after Seimen’s injury became public. “I wrote: ‘We need you. Go for it,’” Undav said. “Fabi is a great guy, a world-class guy, and of course an awesome goalkeeper as well.” Bredlow himself believes he can convince Stuttgart that another signing is unnecessary. “Right now, I’d be wise to give it my all in training and the preseason friendlies and show that there’s no need for action,” Bredlow said. “In the end, of course, the club will decide. But I’m confident I’ll play.” GGFN | Peter Weis
