Aston Villa sign Manchester City forward Murphy on loan Aston Villa have completed the signing of Manchester City forward Lily Murphy on a season-long loan deal. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Villans this morning. The 20-year-old joins Aston Villa in a bid to get regular first team football during the 2026/2027 season. Murphy joined the Manchester City academy in 2022 and she has successfully negotiated her way into the senior team. The youngster signed her first professional terms with The Cityzens in December 2024.  Murphy made her senior debut for Manchester City at the start of the 2024/2025 season and she has gone on to make a number of appearances for the first team. She won a Barclays Women’s Super League and Adobe Women’s FA Cup double with the club last season. On the international stage, Murphy has represented England up to and including Under-20 level. After joining Aston Villa on loan, Murphy said “I’m really excited. I’m looking forward to the new challenge and I can’t wait to get out there now. “I hope to get a lot of minutes. I’m definitely here to compete and fight for my place, so I’m really excited for that.” Murphy is Aston Villa’s eighth signing of the summer transfer window.
