However, it appears that the La Liga champions have decided to part ways with the academy graduate. Competition for places As things stand, Barcelona have plenty of options in the right-back position. Jules Kounde will continue to be a starter while Eric Garcia will push for a spot after impressing in the role last season. Added to the equation is the emergence of Xavi Espart, who made his first-team breakthrough last season and has continued to impress Flick and his coaching staff during the pre-season this summer. As such, the 20-year-old starlet will be offloaded by the Blaugrana , with the club now willing to listen to offers for the promising La Masia graduate. No shortage of interest If he is indeed placed on the exit ramp, there is unlikely to be a shortage of suitors for Fort this summer. As previously reported , the youngster has been courting interest from several clubs in Spain and abroad. Borussia Dortmund, for one, also explored the possibility of a move for the right-back while negotiating the transfer of Karim Adeyemi to Barça. What now remains to be seen is whether Barcelona opt to sell him permanently with a buyback clause and future sell-on percentage or only agree to a loan departure.
