Aberdeen sign forward Ntelo on initial two-year deal

Mitchy Ntelo playing for Charleroi in 2023 [Getty Images] Belgian forward Mitchy Ntelo is "ready to play for the fans" after joining Aberdeen from Swiss side Yverdon-Sport on a two-year deal, with the option of a further year. The 25-year-old can operate centrally or in wide areas, with manager Stephen Robinson highlighting that "versatility was one of the biggest attractions". Ntelo was born in Liege and started his career at Standard Liege, who loaned him to Dutch side MVV Maastricht. He subsequently joined Zebra Elites then Charleroi in his homeland before a short spell at Bulgaria's Lokomotiv Plovdiv and then the move to Switzerland. He was loaned to another Bulgarian side, Botev Vratsa, earlier in 2026. The attacker is nearing 150 club appearances and has scored 30 goals, including six last season for Botev Vratsa. "This is a big step for me, in terms of joining a club with such a great support and history, so it is a proud moment to be here," Ntelo told club media. "When I heard a team like Aberdeen wanted to sign me, I was desperate to make this happen. "I know this club is one of the biggest teams in the league. I am ready to play for the fans and give my best on the pitch. I will work hard and will do everything I can to help the team be successful." And Robinson commented: "We've tracked Mitchy for some time and we're delighted to finally bring him to Aberdeen. "He is tall, exceptionally quick and, importantly for us, is equally comfortable playing as a central striker or in the wide areas. That versatility was one of the biggest attractions. "Although he's scored the majority of his goals from the central position, we believe he has all the attributes to make a real impact from the flanks. He came through as a winger. He gives us another dimension in those positions while still providing genuine competition at centre-forward whenever we need it. "He has shown during his spells in Bulgaria and in Holland that he knows where the goal is and we believe there is still plenty of development ahead of him."
