Barcelona offered the services of £60 million-rated Tottenham midfielder – report Lucas Bergvall’s name has resurfaced at FC Barcelona. The Swedish midfielder, who was one of the club’s top transfer targets two years ago, has recently been offered to Barça by his representatives, who are working to secure him a move away from Tottenham Hotspur during this transfer window. According to reports relayed by SPORT , Bergvall’s agents have contacted several of Europe’s biggest clubs as the player looks to resolve his difficult situation in north London. The deal would be valued at around £60 million, although that figure has done nothing to change Barcelona’s stance. Their priority remains closing the signing of Manchester City ace Rodri, who is viewed as the ideal signing to elevate the quality and leadership of the midfield. The transfer that almost happened Barcelona came very close to signing Bergvall in 2024 while he was still at Djurgardens. The proposed deal was worth around €7 million plus a further €3 million in add-ons , and the midfielder even travelled to Barcelona to meet Deco and visit the club’s training facilities. At the time, then-manager Xavi Hernandez summed up the situation by saying: “One club offered more and we felt we shouldn’t go any higher. That’s how the market works.” Shortly after joining Tottenham, Bergvall admitted that choosing the Premier League over Barcelona had been one of the toughest decisions of his career. “They’re two incredible clubs and the decision was very difficult. It was 50-50 for a long time, but I felt Tottenham was the right next step for me. It wasn’t easy to say no to Barça,” he said. Focus remains on Rodri Now, two years later, Bergvall’s name has once again been linked with Barcelona. This time, however, the club’s response has been immediate. Barcelona appreciate the approach, but have no intention of reopening a transfer they consider finished, with all of their efforts continuing to focus on completing a move for Rodri.
