Official: Pellegrini signs new contract with Roma to June 2027

Roma have officially signed Lorenzo Pellegrini to a new contract to June 2027, several weeks after his previous deal had already expired. The midfielder has spent almost his entire career with the Giallorossi, coming up through their youth academy and returning to base after a brief two-year spell at Sassuolo. It was described in the statement as a contract 'extension,' but that is not entirely accurate, as his previous agreement had already expired. The same situation developed with Paulo Dybala, and was meant to be done for Zeki Celik, except the defender instead joined Juventus as a free agent. Pellegrini too had been linked with a possible move to Juventus and approached by Besiktas, but he remained committed to the Giallorossi. The Corriere dello Sport claims his salary is worth €2.5m per season plus performance-related bonuses, similar to the one Dybala sealed.
