Chelsea Agree On A Deal To Sign This La Liga Left-back: Good Signing For Alonso? In a recent post on X , renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Chelsea have agreed on a deal to sign Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria this summer. It has been revealed that the Blues have agreed on a fee of €19m (fixed) plus €2m in add-ons to secure the services of the Spanish defender. Chavarria’s Impressive Season In La Liga Chavarria enjoyed a good run of form at the Spanish club in the previous campaign as he produced a run of impressive performances for them in La Liga. The Spanish talent found the back of the net once and picked up three assists in 44 appearances for Rayo Vallecano last season across multiple competitions. The 28-year-old is currently one of the most talented wide players in La Liga. Therefore, the Blues have done well to agree on a deal to land him this off-season. His current deal with Rayo Vallecano was set to expire in the summer of 2030, so Chelsea deserves credit for recruiting Chavarria in a deal worth around €21m in this transfer period. Chavarria is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to make some crucial interceptions for his team on the defensive third of the pitch. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and is a tidy distributor as well from the left flank. The Spanish sensation can deliver some dangerous crosses into the opposition’s penalty area and is full of energy and running out on the flanks. Chavarria can even chip in by scoring and creating some crucial goals for his team. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League . We can expect Chavarria to bring more quality to Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso’s defence. He is good enough to serve as a decent replacement for Marc Cucurella at the West London club. At 28, Chavarria is playing in his prime, which makes him a good signing for the Blues in the short term. He has what it takes to compete for regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge next season and could help Chelsea challenge across all fronts over the next few years.
