Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neil on Ipswich Town shortlist
Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neil on Ipswich Town shortlist Gary O’Neil is a contender to replace Kieran McKenna at Ipswich Town, as per a report from BBC Sport. O’Neil only arrived at RC Strasbourg Alsace in January. The former AFC Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers manager replaced Liam Rosenior, who departed to join fellow BlueCo-owned club Chelsea. Having replaced Rosenior, O’Neil took Strasbourg to the semi-finals of the Coupe de France and the UEFA Europa Conference League, however, a poor end to the season means that – barring Olympique de Marseille’s exclusion from European competition – Le Racing won’t compete in Europe next season. The Englishman may not even still be at the Meinau. McKenna revealed that he would be taking a step back from football. His exit was confirmed on Wednesday evening. O’Neil is a contender for the role, BBC Sport understands. L’Équipe add that he may even be the priority for the Tractor Boys, newly promoted to the Premier League but now without a manager.
