Manchester City Reach Verbal Agreement For This Ligue 1 Keeper: Should Maresca Move In For Him? In a recent post on X , journalist Santi Aouna mentioned that Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement for Olympique Marseille keeper Gerónimo Rulli. It has been stated that the Mancunian club are working on a deal to bring the Argentine goalie to the Etihad Stadium this summer. Rulli’s Impressive Campaign In Ligue 1 Rulli enjoyed a good run of form for Marseille in the previous campaign when he put in a string of solid performances for them in Ligue 1. The Argentine custodian shipped in 52 goals and secured nine clean sheets in 39 matches for the French outfit last season in various competitions. The 34-year-old is currently among the most experienced keepers in Ligue 1. Hence, it is no surprise that Man City are eyeing a move for him this summer. His current deal at Marseille will run out at the end of next season, which could open the door for the Mancunian giants to land him on the cheap this off-season. (Photo by Angel Martinez/Getty Images) Should Manchester City Boss Enzo Maresca Move In For Rulli? Rulli can be a good pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing at the top of his game. He is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make a few top saves at the back for his team. Standing at 1.89m, the Argentine goalie can use his commanding frame to dominate his penalty area. Rulli is a tidy distributor of the ball as well. However, there are some question marks over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if Man City end up signing him in this transfer window. We can expect Rulli to add more quality and depth to Enzo Maresca’s squad. He is good enough to serve as an ideal number two option to Gianluigi Donnarumma at the Mancunian club in the coming seasons. At 34, Rulli is past his prime and could struggle to earn regular playing minutes at the Etihad Stadium. Still, he is more than capable of serving as a good replacement for James Trafford at Man City. With all things considered, Maresca should focus on moving in for him in this transfer window.
