Both Flick and the sporting department led by Deco have been thoroughly impressed by the performances and qualities Farinas has shown throughout pre-season. Flick’s belief in the player is nothing new. The German previously blocked Farinas’ departure to Girona, a move that had been all but agreed for €1.5 million in exchange for 50% of his economic rights. The coach preferred to keep him close and assess him first-hand, and everything he has seen since has only reinforced that decision.
