Although he has a reserve team number, this is mainly because of a lack of availability of first team numbers, and Thiago will remain a first team player for all intents and purposes. This is a decision made by Mourinho himself, who considers the youngster to be an important player for him. Although an injury has kept him from showcasing his talents to the Portuguese coach, the latter has still heard very good things about the young midfielder. With Rodri now looking highly unlikely to join the team , Thiago Pitarch will only gain in importance at Real Madrid. However, he will still have to compete with the likes of Tchouameni, Camavinga, Bernardo Silva, and Valverde for one of the two midfield pivot spots.
