Leicester City defender Thibaud joins Olympique de Marseille Leicester City defender Julie Thibaud has joined French Arkema Première Ligue club Olympique de Marseille on a permanent deal. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official media update from The Foxes this afternoon. The 28-year-old French international defender leaves Leicester City after spending the last three seasons with the club. Marseille have paid an undisclosed fee to Leicester City to secure her services on a permanent basis. In her time with Leicester City, Thibaud made 72 appearances for the club in all competitions. She helped the club to record back-to-back top flight points records in 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 but was relegated with The Foxes at the end of last season. With Leicester City now facing the prospect of Barclays WSL2 football, Thibaud has opted to continue playing at the top level by joining Marseille. She joins an OM side that finished the 2025/2026 campaign in ninth place in the Arkema Première Ligue table. Thibaud is the latest departure at The King Power Stadium this summer. Several Leicester City players have opted to move on following the club’s relegation in May. The Foxes have been rebuilding their squad in recent weeks with a view to challenging for the Barclays WSL2 title in the upcoming season.
