A Manchester City superstar could score even more in Enzo Maresca’s system

A Manchester City superstar could score even more in Enzo Maresca’s system Omar Marmoush bagged a secondhalf brace yesterday as Manchester City beat Atletico Madrid 3-1 in their final preseason friendly . Marmoush scored two simple tap-ins, which both came after some sublime play for Antoine Semenyo on the left wing. However, Marmoush perhaps could have scored more at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. Savinho created several fine openings from the right wing and played several quality crosses across the Atletico Madrid six-yard box, which no one was on hand to tap home. Watching how City played yesterday and throughout their tour of Asia, it was impossible not to picture Erling Haaland prospering in Enzo Maresca’s system. Haaland could score even more goals for Manchester City this upcoming season if yesterday’s match is a glimpse of the service he will be provided. The Manchester City system seems tailor-made for Erling Haaland to thrive. Throughout the first half of yesterday’s win over Atletico Madrid, Manchester City created several great opportunities from out wide, which they failed to capitalize on. Savinho played several teasing balls from the right that no City player gambled on getting on the end of. Antoine Semenyo also had his moments on the left wing. Unfortunately, Omar Marmoush and none of his teammates made the necessary run. In the second half, Omar Marmoush got himself into the right positions and bagged a brace. That was fantastic to see. But, as the first half saw a plethora of quality balls not have a Manchester City player get on the end of them, you couldn’t help but think that Erling Haaland would thrive in this set up. Erling Haaland thrives off the type of service that was prevalent in last night’s match and in Manchester City’s other two friendlies. So often, Haaland is positioned at the back post for chances or he reads the play and is on hand for a simple tap-in. If the service from Semenyo and Savinho, which was on show last night, becomes the norm, Haaland has the opportunity to add more goals to his catalogue. Erling Haaland is already an elite goal-scorer. His record speaks for itself. However, he may be poised to add even more goals to his game in Enzo Maresca’s system. Enzo Maresca said post game that Erling Haaland will add to City’s goal-scoring power. Speaking after his team beat Atletico Madrid, Enzo Maresca admitted that his team created a host of good openings in the first half. However, they didn’t finish their work. Maresca acknowledged that Erling Haaland will make a difference. Maresca explained: “ We could not create the amount of situations we did and not finish the action. There we need to be clinical – it’s something we need to improve. Slowly we are getting there and with Erling [Haaland] we can be even more dangerous. ” Watching Manchester City fail to take advantage of a host of good low crosses in the first half against Atletico Madrid was frustrating to a degree. However, Omar Marmoush made up for this in the second half. As the openings weren’t taken, you couldn’t help but think that Erling Haaland would feast on the service that Savinho and Antoine Semenyo were providing. Erling Haaland begins his preseason training with Enzo Maresca’s squad later this week. It will not be a surprise to see him settle quickly into a new system at Manchester City and benefit from how City are utilising their wingers.
