Confirmed: Real Madrid announce new squad numbers for the 2026/27 season Real Madrid have officially confirmed their squad numbers for the 2026/27 season, with several new signings receiving their numbers and a number of established players making changes. The biggest talking point is Yan Diomande, who will wear the No.25 shirt after completing his record-breaking move from RB Leipzig.  The Ivorian winger is Real Madrid’s most expensive signing in history, with the total cost of the deal potentially reaching €140 million . His shirt number also clears up an important question surrounding his registration.  Diomande will be part of the first-team squad rather than being registered with Castilla, as had been suggested previously. Real Madrid squad numbers for 2026/27 season While Diomande will wear No.25 in his first season at Real Madrid, fellow new arrival Ibrahima Konate has been handed No.16. The number was previously worn by Gonzalo Garcia last season, with the young forward now making way for the French centre-back. Marc Cucurella, another of Real Madrid’s summer arrivals, will take the No.17 shirt.  That number belonged to Raul Asencio last season, but the defender has now switched to No.2, previously worn by club legend Dani Carvajal. Dean Huijsen has also been given a new number. After wearing No.24 previously, the centre-back will now take the No.4 shirt that was left vacant following David Alaba’s departure. The No.24 shirt will instead go to Denzel Dumfries, who has also joined Real Madrid during the summer transfer window. Bernardo Silva completes the list of major first-team arrivals and will wear No.20. The number was previously assigned to Fran García, who has now left the club for Real Betis. Raul Asencio’s move from No.17 to No.2 is one of the most notable changes. The defender now takes over the number associated with Carvajal, while Cucurella inherits the shirt he previously wore. Huijsen’s move to No.4 also gives him a number with significant history at the Santiago Bernabeu. The defender will now begin the season with one of the most recognisable shirts in Real Madrid’s squad. In the youth ranks, Thiago Pitarch will switch from No.45 to No.27.  His new number confirms that he will remain part of the Castilla squad rather than being promoted to the first team for registration purposes. Carlos Espi, meanwhile, will wear No.19 after taking over the shirt previously worn by Dani Ceballos, who has departed the club.
