The Inter Milan striker is held at high regards in Catalonia, with both sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick being firm admirers. Martinez has been performing consistently in Serie A for years and has proven his credentials with the national team as well. The Argentine international has also been linked with a move to Barcelona in the past, but the club always faced financial hiccups. Should Barcelona make a move for Martinez? Martinez might actually prove to be a better alternative than most other available options in the market right now. Martinez has a solid track record at Inter. The Argentina might not be as technically gifted as Alvarez, but his poaching abilities, coupled with his physical and aerial qualities make him more similar to Lewandowski than someone like Alvarez. This is a good thing as it means Lautaro can offer additional skillset in the Barcelona frontline, which is otherwise full of technically gifted stars. Signing the former River Plate starlet could be tough, though, with the player still having a contract at Inter Milan until 2029. And much like Atleti, Inter are also known to be strong negotiators who won’t leave an inch out for their rivals.
