St Helens sign Catalans centre Faataape from 2027
St Helens have signed centre Solomona Faataape on a two-year deal which will begin from the start of the 2027 season. The 25-year-old will join from fellow Super League club Catalans Dragons, for whom he has scored nine tries in 23 appearances this season. Prior to his move to the south of France, Faataape turned out in the NRL for Wests Tigers, making 19 appearances and scoring seven tries. "I've been playing this year with a few of the boys who know a lot about the club and they've shared with me just how rich in history Saints is, and how passionate the fans are," he said. "I want to be successful and St Helens demands success. That's one of the biggest reasons why I am joining. "Every game against Saints is going to be a big game; it's such a huge club, everyone knows that, so to be joining is pretty awesome." Faataape's move to St Helens comes with the club still without a head coach after the departure of Paul Rowley. Saints are at risk of failing to qualify for the end-of-season play-offs for the first time in the Super League era having lost eight of their past 11 league games.
