Araujo pens farewell message to Barcelona fans after Liverpool move: ‘Time to face a new challenge’ FC Barcelona captain Ronald Araujo has left the club to move to the Premier League after accepting Liverpool’s offer . He moves to Anfield on a season-long loan deal, with a €55 million purchase option that can be exercised next summer, following a decision he considered carefully. After speaking with Hansi Flick, the Uruguayan knew he wasn’t going to get the playing time he needed this season and preferred to try his luck at one of England’s biggest clubs, where he’ll have the chance to compete for every major trophy. Whether he returns in the future remains to be seen, but there is a chance that this may very well be a permanent goodbye. Remembering that journey, he posted a heart-warming farewell message, which read as follows: “Time to face a new challenge. After 8 years, I take with me so many wonderful memories, lessons learned, and above all, so many people who were part of this journey. Always grateful, Culers! ”  A new chapter after a difficult year Araujo had to step away from the team last season after making a costly mistake in a Champions League match against Chelsea. His dream had been to become captain of the team, and he achieved that ambition. Barcelona had an opportunity to sell him to Juventus for around €50 million in January 2025, but the club rejected the offer. Araujo chose to renew his contract at the time, and now he has moved on to another highly demanding league, hoping to get his career back on track after a difficult year.
