Friendly | Juventus 2-0 Palermo: Yildiz and Milik seal victory in Australia Juventus have ended their pre-season tour of South-East Asia and Australia with a 2-0 victory over Serie B outfit Palermo on Tuesday afternoon thanks to goals from starman Kenan Yildiz and a rare strike from the lesser-spotted Arkadiusz Milik. Following victories against Standard Liege and OGC Nice back in Europe, Juventus beat Chelsea 1-0 in Hong Kong, fell to a 2-1 victory against Inter in Perth over the weekend but bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Palermo in their final Australian friendly on Tuesday. Luciano Spalletti named a strong Bianconeri XI for the pre-season test against Palermo, including both of his two most recent signings in Kerim Alajbegovic and Randal Kolo Muani. They were joined by Yildiz and Francisco Conceicao in attack, with Weston McKennie and Douglas Luiz in a midfield double pivot. Click here to read more about how today’s teams lined up. The Portugal international had combined well with new recruit Zeki Celik on the Juventus right flank in the opening exchanges. Yildiz also sent in a warning shot two minutes later after a headed clearance from a corner. Palermo were relieved to see his first-time volley hit the side netting. (Photo by Janelle St Pierre/Getty Images) Celik, who put in a decent showing in the first half, was involved for the Juventus opener: His shot from the right-hand side of the area forced Palermo goalkeeper Jesse Joronen to parry, the Turk got to the rebound and squared it to Kenan Yildiz to finish off in the middle of the area from 10 yards out just before half-time. Spalletti decided to make two changes at the interval, introducing Manuel Locatelli and Edon Zhegrova in place of Douglas Luiz and the impressive Conceicao. Zhegrova went on to provide an excellent line-splitting pass for Celik just a few minutes later, which allowed the full-back to lay off for Kolo Muani, only for Joronen to just get there first. Fabio Miretti, Andrea Cambiaso, Milik and Jeremie Boga were then brought on in place of McKennie, Alajbegovic, Yildiz and Kolo Muani just after the hour mark. Milik has not scored for Juventus in a competitive fixture since 2024, and though this was a friendly, his goal just before full-time will have done the Pole the world of good in terms of his confidence. He won possession in a central position around 40 yards out from goal, dribbled into the area, cut onto his right foot and dispatched coolly past Joronen to make it 2-0 approaching the 90th minute. This was Juventus’s penultimate pre-season friendly of the summer. They will be involved in an in-house friendly against the Next Gen side at the Allianz Stadium on August 17 in the week leading up to the Serie A season kick-off. Juventus 2-0 Palermo Yildiz 44’, Milik 87’.
