His release clause stands at a whopping €500 million and his future is thus secure from a paperwork standpoint. Bernal, however, was promised that the terms of his renewal would be reviewed at the end of the season and the Catalans intend to live up to the deal. They will thus look to cut the player a better salary. A key pillar for the future While Barcelona may have the world’s best players at their disposal ahead of the new season, Deco and Co. continue to see Bernal as a long-term bet who can carry the department and lead the team in the long run.
