Official | Facundo Medina joins Bayer Leverkusen from Marseille Bayer Leverkusen have officially announced the signing of Facundo Medina (27) from Olympique de Marseille on a contract that will see him tied to the club until 2031.  The Argentine only joined Marseille last summer. He arrived on loan from RC Lens, but with an option to buy. When he touched down in Marseille, he told the local press,  La Provence, that he was “ coming to OM to win titles .” However, he leaves with an empty trophy cabinet as part of the club’s everything must go sales pitch .  Medina made only 26 appearances across all competitions for Les Phocéens in a season that was curtailed, particularly at the start, by a recurring ankle injury. His injury problems would rule him out of all but five games for Marseille in 2025 (of which he would play in only four).  After he returned to fitness, he swiftly became a regular starter in 2026. His performances would see him called up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, where he would help Argentina reach the final, but would come away empty-handed.  GFFN | Nick Hartland
