AS Monaco set to terminate Paul Pogba contract after latest injury setback

AS Monaco set to terminate Paul Pogba contract after latest injury setback AS Monaco are preparing to terminate Paul Pogba’s contract after just over a year at the club, according to Nice Matin . The former Manchester United and Juventus star joined Monaco on a two-year deal in June 2025, hoping to finally put a difficult period behind him and rebuild his career at the highest level. Instead, injuries have continued to prevent Pogba from finding any sustained rhythm, and Monaco have now decided they are ready to end his spell at the club early. Monaco’s management informed the 33-year-old several weeks ago that they intended to terminate his contract and gave him permission to explore other opportunities. The club is expected to negotiate a financial settlement with Pogba and pay the remainder of the salary owed to him under his contract, which was due to expire next summer. Pogba had been desperate to prove he could still compete at the top level after his doping suspension was reduced on appeal in 2025. His Monaco move was a fresh start. However, his body has let him down. Pogba made just six appearances for Monaco last season. He played only 45 minutes during pre-season, featuring in the second half of Monaco’s 5-2 victory over Saint-Priest on July 18. A right knee problem then ruled him out of the club’s next four friendlies, before he finally returned to full team training last Friday. That comeback lasted just a few days. During a small-sided training game on Tuesday, Pogba suffered another injury, this time to his left thigh. He was scheduled to undergo an MRI scan to determine the severity of the latest setback. The injury confirmed a decision Monaco had already reached. Per the Daily Mail, Pogba has been offered to Major League Soccer clubs. The midfielder has endured a difficult time personally and professionally since his first spell at Juventus. Once one of world football’s most recognisable stars, Pogba now has to decide whether another comeback is realistic.
