The Italian journalist confirms that Barcelona have not shown any concrete interest in signing Lautaro Martinez. This comes just a day after Diario SPORT categorically denied the speculation , adding that the club are not thinking about signing the Inter Milan forward this summer. This is despite the fact that the Catalans are desperately in need of a new number nine this summer and if the Alvarez deal falters, they could be left with no strikers for the new season. Ferran Torres, after all, is on the verge of leaving in favour of a move to PSG while Robert Lewandowski left the club after seeing out his contract at the end of last season. They were keen on having Lautaro join the club as he was a hot prospect at the time, having been scoring goals for fun at Inter Milan. The Argentine has still somehow maintained his scoring record at Inter. But he is not seen as tactically versatile enough to thrive in Hansi Flick’s formation. But it must be noted that Lautaro is stylistically more similar to Robert Lewandowski than someone like Alvarez. But this is a risk Barcelona are willing to take as they believe a more versatile forward like Alvarez could help the team become more lethal next season.
